COVID-19 and Cancer Care: Ensuring Safety While Transforming Care Delivery

Ce dossier présente un ensemble d'articles concernant la prise en charge des cancers durant la crise sanitaire liée au COVID-19

Ensuring safety and measuring the quality of care are mainstays of oncology practice. Our field has enjoyed decades of incremental and measurable improvement in care delivery using such established tools as ASCO guidelines and standards. Additional practices, many adapted from industry and aeronautics, have helped to ensure safety for all members of teams delivering complex care in both the inpatient and clinic settings. The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally altered the infrastructure of practice seemingly overnight, shifting care to virtual platforms and to nontraditional settings, such as the home. More than ever, it remains our responsibility to protect the safety of patients and providers as well as to ensure the quality of care provided. Simultaneously, we must continue to improve the efficiency of care, reduce disparities, and preserve the patient experience while we innovate new delivery models.
