Time to say goodbye to full-field digital mammography in population-based screening?
51 (96%) of 53 countries in the WHO European Region have national breast cancer screening programmes. Globally, 63% of all nations have established breast cancer screening programmes.1 Most of the European screening programmes are organised nationally and are population-based, focusing on women older than 50 years.1 Full-field digital mammography is the gold standard screening modality used in these programmes because of its clinical efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
