Expression of concern - Effect of Brazil's national human papillomavirus vaccination programme on the incidence of cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 in women aged 20-24 years: a population-based study

In October 2025, The Lancet Global Health published a population-based study to estimate the effect of Brazil’s national human papillomavirus vaccination programme on the incidence of cervical cancer,1 by Thiago Cerqueira-Silva and colleagues. On July 15, 2026, the corresponding author alerted us to some coding errors that affected several numerical values in the findings—some substantially. In view of the extent of these errors, we now issue an Expression of Concern while working with the authors to correct the record, including further review of the revised paper.
