Screening Mammography Completion Among Women Enrolled in a Lung Cancer Screening Program

Menée aux Etats-Unis à partir de données de registres électroniques de santé portant sur 2 098 femmes incluses dans un programme de dépistage du cancer du poumon, cette étude évalue la proportion d'entre elles ayant réalisé une mammographie de dépistage

Despite advances in screening and treatment, breast cancer remains a significant source of morbidity and mortality. Recommendations regarding the appropriate age to initiate breast cancer screening (BCS) and the optimal screening interval vary among organizations, with the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommending biennial screening mammography, while the American College of Radiology and other professional societies advocate for annual screening for women at average risk. Despite the proven mortality benefit of screening mammography, completion rates range from 55-80%, with lower BCS completion observed among socioeconomically disadvantaged groups who often have difficulty accessing preventative care.
