Remember Your Why… An Oncologist's Reflections on Running During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Ce dossier présente un ensemble d'articles concernant la prise en charge des cancers durant la crise sanitaire liée au COVID-19

the 1rst time since 1897, the Boston Marathon was not held on Patriots’ Day. Originally scheduled for April 20, the race was 1rst postponed until September 14 by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then in late May, I remember checking my email in the midst of a busy oncology clinic, only to read that the 124 th Boston Marathon would be canceled. Instead, the race would be held as a virtual event. As a physician, I knew that safeguarding the health of our community must take precedence over this race, and that a mass participation road running event was de nitely not a good idea. However, I felt another wave of disappointment, since the cancellation of the Boston Marathon, an event I look forward to each year, was yet another example of an iconic community celebration that is not possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
