Quality of life in patients with lung cancer: the way forward

Despite important treatment progress, lung cancer, which is often diagnosed as advanced disease, is still characterised by a poor prognosis. Quality-of-life (QOL) evaluation, defined as the patients' perception of the physical, psychological, and social impact of cancer and its treatment, has a central role, together with the classic endpoints of efficacy and safety, in understanding the real value of a treatment and its potential risks and benefits.
