Public Awareness of the Association Between Alcohol and Cancer in the US
Cette étude examine la sensibilisation des Américains au risque de cancer lié à la consommation d'alcool en fonction de facteurs sociodémographiques, comportementaux et liés aux croyances
In the US, an estimated 75 000 cancer cases and 20 000 deaths from cancer are associated with alcohol every year. Although alcohol use is a leading preventable cause of cancer, public knowledge of the association between alcohol and cancer remains poor. Over the past years, alcohol consumption has increased and remains a common practice in the US, with 69.3% of adults reporting consuming alcoholic beverages. To help inform future educational campaigns and public health policies, we examined public awareness of alcohol use and cancer risk according to sociodemographic, behavioral, and cancer belief–related factors in the US population.
