Challenges of receiving follow-up care with healthcare providers (HCP) existed before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic due to time constraints, appointments during working hours, commuting distances, patient physical limitations, costs, and transportation. Telemedicine was initiated before this pandemic to serve patients with chronic illnesses facing constraints that influence healthcare follow-up. Telemedicine delivers health and health-related services via telecommunications and digital communication technologies. Telemedicine technologies commonly used are live video conferencing, mobile health apps, “store and forward” electronic transmission, and remote patient monitoring. (...)
