Eligibility for Cochlear Implant Candidacy Evaluation in Childhood Cancer Survivors

Cette étude analyse la prévalence d'une perte auditive neurosensorielle chez des patients ayant survécu à un cancer pédiatrique et évalue l'utilisation d'implant cochléaire

Childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) are at heightened risk for sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) from curative cancer treatments, particularly platinum chemotherapy and radiotherapy involving the cochlea. Cochlear implants are recommended for severe to profound SNHL; however, access to cochlear implants has been limited for CCSs. With technological advancements and expansion of candidacy criteria, cochlear implants have become a valid option for CCSs. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of CCS with severe SNHL who met referral criteria for a cochlear implant candidacy evaluation (CICE), explore risk factors for warranting a CICE, and estimate hearing aid use.
