Collaborative Telerehabilitation—A Smart Move for Patients With Advanced Cancer
The evidence is clear—rehabilitation programs improve patient-reported and clinical outcomes for patients with advanced cancer. Yet, similar to many other evidence-proven supportive cancer care services, rehabilitation is usually only provided reactively—when patients have lost so much function that they require costly institutionalized care. Limited access to high-quality care, lack of awareness of the clinical benefits, and a strained professional workforce prevent receipt of proactive, supportive cancer care for patients who may benefit the most from these services.
